TICA: Looking for a New Board Members

Board Vacancy

As the Thetis Island Community Association is now debt free, the board is very much looking towards the future. There is a vacancy on the Board for Vice President to be filled as TICA moves forward with ideas and new focus.

The current board members are a very committed group of individuals with varying backgrounds, that work well as a team by listening to all points of view and vigorously discussing issues that relate to TICA’s work. The board would like to have someone join the team who is eager to explore and help direct TICA’s focus over the next few years.

We commonly have one or more board members joining us in a virtual meeting, so part-time residents are welcome, as are those who live on Thetis full time.

Please give TICA and its Forbes Hall Community Centre consideration for both your interest and time.

Looking to Add Two New Directors at its AGM on April 26th

With the debt fully paid off, TICA directors are now asking themselves, “What’s next?”. To answer this question, the board has been examining its mandate and role and what its focus will be in the coming years.

While TICA must continue to fulfil its mandate to oversee and manage Forbes Hall, the board would now like to re-evaluate its operations through an environmental lens. To this end, TICA will be adding a board position with a dedicated Environmental portfolio. The new board member will be someone with a strong interest (and perhaps experience) in exploring and promoting environmental issues and solutions and will work with other board members and volunteers to develop operational plans and projects for the future.

The Board has noticed the growing number of babies, toddlers, children and youth living, playing and learning on Thetis Island. There is room for programs and activities at Forbes Hall that are specifically designed for, and directed to, these children and youth. In acknowledgment of this, TICA will be adding a board position with a Child & Youth Initiatives portfolio. This director will liaise with parents and youth to accommodate new initiatives and events, bringing the ideas to the Board for discussion and implementation.

If you are interested in any of the above positions, please contact a Board member:
