Fireworks!
As Halloween night closes with a few fireworks including loud noises, we all said goodnight to the end of the show. When and if you own a dog there are certain dogs who can sleep right through the noise and those that go into a "grand mal seizure." I have one of those dogs. Knowing that there would be fireworks on Halloween night we prepared our pup by creating a buffer to help her through the evening. Along comes Friday night and as we just sat down for dinner we heard fireworks exploding near us. Poor Copper was so scared she ran around the house howling and panting trying to get away from the noise. Unfortunately we had to open the door for another reason and Copper ran out, went under our gate and into the forest. Following behind her was me (Gloria) with a flashlight calling her name until I am hoarse. I followed her for over 30 mins going over fallen trees, branches and into a few holes. Finally I caught up with her and managed to get her onto my lap as I sat onto a log. For over one hour I yelled for help as Copper was beyond calming down. We both were wet, muddy and cold. Copper is not a lightweight dog so there was no way I could carry her while holding on to the flashlight. No, I didn't have my phone with me. We were sitting down at the dinner table when Copper got out. Once we were safe in the house we saw the damage to Copper and to me. Some cuts, blood, bruises, mud and a very sore body for both of us.
So please, next year forget the fireworks and roast up some S'mores instead.
