There will be a change in our oddly warmish weather forecasted to take effect from January 17 (Friday) to January 22nd (Thursday). Temperatures from a Provincial cold front may drop us 10 to 20 degrees during that period. This gives you only a couple of days to empty your outdoor hoses, freeze-proof your outdoor taps, and cold-proof your winter garden plants. Also, Watch for possible black ice forming on the roadways.
From January 17 to January 22 expect Daytime highs on the coast to fall to 5 degrees Celsius below normal (0 to -5C) and overnight temperatures to be from minus 5C to minus 10C. Windchills on the coast will be from minus 5C to minus 10C, and locally to minus 15 C overnight. Coastal communities may see an increased risk for snow events. Temperatures should moderate from the 23rd onward as a series of Pacific storms come through.
